Another long weekend in the Netherlands fleeing the height of the carnival season, this time to Groningen. The grim weather – rain and snow at sub-zero temperature with a high wind chill factor – limited any outdoor activities on most days, but at least some sunshine on Sunday allowed for less dreary images. Some additional shots from a stopover for lunch at Arnhem on our way back.
Gear: Deliberately leaving some all-time favourites at home like the 50 Lux or the 90 Elmarit, provided the opportunity to shoot some lesser used lenses. Leica M11 with Voigtländer 21 mm / F 1.8 ULTRON VM Ashperical, Leica Summarit 35mm 2.4 Asph, Voigtländer Nokton VM 50mm 1:1.2 aspherical, Leica Apo-Summicron Ashperical 75mm F/2, and Leica Tele-Elmar 1:4/135mm.
The city of Groningen delivers an interesting mix of the old and the new, all within a few minutes walking distance: Martinitoren and Noorderhaven from 16th and 17th century, the museum from the 1990s in a postmodern Memphis-like style, or the ultramodern multimedia event space called Forum.
